Yksi parhaista asioista aviomiehen opiskelussa (vaimon kannalta) ovat ennen ensi-iltaa nähtävät elokuvat. Kiireiden takia syksyn elokuvista on jäänyt monta väliin, olen vieläkin pahoillani etten päässyt katsomaan Terry Gilliamin uutta "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" pätkää, mutta ehkäpä sen näkee teatterissa, kun aika koittaa.
Eilen oli Disney Pixari:n uuden elokuvan "Up" vuoro. Ja sanalla sanoen, se oli MAHTAVA. On kerrassaan ihme miten Pixar pystyy ylittämään kerta toisensa jälkeen odotukset, jotka ovat jo pilvien tasolla. Pixarin Ratatouille oli loistava, Wall-E upea ja tämä uusi Up aivan mahtava. Taustalla on sydäntäsärkevän surullinen tarina vanhasta miehestä. Mies ystävystyy olosuhteiden pakosta nuoren yksinäisen pojan kanssa, vähitellen alkaa elämään jälleen nykyisyydessä menneisyyden sijaan.. ajautuen suureen seikkailuun.
Elokuvan eläinhahmot ovat aivan nerokkaita, olen aina ajatellut, mitäköhän koirien päässä liikkuu ja tämä elokuva tavallaan vastaa siihen kysymykseen. Elokuvan tekijät ovat todella ymmärtäneet koirien käyttäytymisen, niin uskottavia elokuvan karvaturrit ovat.
Animaatiot ovat siitä merkillinen elokuvan laji, että ne joko toimivat nerokkaasti, tai eivät ollenkaan. Up kuuluu ensimmäiseen kategoriaan. Se on viimeisen päälle hieno. Ainoa miinus on pätkän nimi "Up". Se voisi ehkä olla vähän vetävämpi. Mutta toisaalta, ehkä nimi vetoaa nuorempaan yleisöön lyhyydessään ja ytimekkyydessään. Sillä loppujen lopuksi, onhan tämä kuitenkin ensisijaisesti lasten elokuva.

Due to being busy we have missed quite a few this autumn, I'm still sorry for not seeing Terry Gilliams new "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" picture, but maybe we'll see it in cinema when the moment is right.
Yesterday it was time to see Disney Pixar's new film "Up". And it was literally GREAT. It is almost a miracle how Pixar can always exceed expectations, which are already sky high. Pixar's Ratatouille was awesome, Wall-e brilliant and now this Up is absolutelu fantastic. On the background there's a hearbreaking story of an old man. Due to the circumstances man is forced to make friends with a young, also lonely boy and starts living in present instead of past.. and gets into a great adventure.
The animal characters of the film are genious, I've always wanted to know what dogs are thinking and in a way this film answers to that question. The makers of this movie have really understood the fundamental behaviour of dogs, so credible the doggies of the film are.
Animations are such a peculiar film category. Animations either work geniously or not the slightest. Up belongs to the first group. It is fine up to a scratch. Only downside is the name, "Up". It could perhaps be a bit more exciting. But, on the other hand, maybe the name in its conciseness, will appeal to the younger audience. Because, after all, this is first and foremost a film for kids.
